Personal

Personality:

{Ambitious | Confident | Selfish | Short-Sighted | Shameless | Vain}

{Ambitious} If there were one word to describe him, this just might be it. Above all else, Taluse is a visionary - and he sees himself at the top. In the long term, it's conquer the tribes and rule them with an iron paw, and nothing will shake him from that goal. While each step may not be planned, they are being put in place, and already he has aspirations for after he takes absolute control. Yet even in the short term he can set high standards for himself, and at times he will be his own worst critic, pushing himself to accomplish these goals; after all, if he cannot manage this, how will he enslave the tribes? However, thoughts like that do not enter his mind; it is sheer tenacity and his stubborn nature that pushes him to succeed, rather than self-afflicted negative reenforcement. In truth, he may very well give up on small tasks with the thought in mind that, when he becomes the master of all the tribes, any minute failures will be insignificant.

{Confident} No matter what it is he's doing, there's an air of arrogance around him. Once he sets his mind to something, anyone would have more luck moving heaven and earth than convincing him that he's incapable. Though he may often come off as impatient due to his demanding attitude, the young cat can be surprisingly accomodating to time - for no matter how long it takes him to accomplish something, he will accomplish it, and there is never a trace of doubt in his mind or behavior. This trait is very often seen crossing the threshold into cockiness, most popularly in scenarios where he will boast of feats that he actually can't manage. No matter how many failures he suffers, however, this will never put a damper on his confidence in every other application.

{Selfish} A modest term for this cat, no doubt. Everyone else can eat dirt for all he cares; so long as he comes out on top, nothing else matters. As long as he gets what he wants, that's the only important detail to him. Be it getting his favorite pick of the prey, or inevitably conquering the tribes, this trait has just as wide a range of application as his ambition. This translates directly into it ambitious nature - wanting everything for himself - as well as his vain tendencies - thinking he's the best and doing all he can to assert this fact.

{Short-Sighted} Despite the fact that his grand ambitions look many years in the future, Taluse is a notoriously short-sighted individual. Oh, don't doubt that he can establish a wonderfully nefarious scheme that has a complex but functional process progressing from steps one through sixteen, because he certainly can. Rather, it's his temperament that makes him short-sighted. When his emotions become invested in something - and this is more often than not, because he is quite the passionate individual - he lives utterly in the moment. This can lead to terribly reckless actions, such as trash-talking a senior guard, or unsheathing his claws at an other-triber, or even outright attacking someone. Furthermore, this can lead to him tacking careless risks, like trying to blackmail a cat when he doesn't even have that much dirt on them, or even something like trying to poison someone who's rubbed him the wrong way. Things like these have grand consequences, but when he's over his head in fervor, he fails to consider them.

{Shameless} Regret isn't something you'll ever see Taluse feel. Whatever he does, even if he might change it if he had the opportunity, he will stand by it. And since time travel isn't possible, he never lingers on the could-have-beens or would-have-beens. At times, this can be a good trait, if just because it means he's a very forward thinker and doesn't linger on the past. Even so, it's pretty obvious how this can be a bad thing; without repentence, he's doomed to continue making mistakes, and so long as he never takes responsibility for the fact that they are faults, he won't be able to fix them. Regardless of that, it isn't beyond him to apply past experiences to present scenarios and avoid doing the same thing as before - although if anyone were to point out that he might be "learning from past mistakes", he'd immediately shut it down and deny having ever made a mistake. After all, mistakes are unintentional, and he sure as hell intends to do every single thing he does.

{Vain} He's better than you. In his mind and eye, that's simply a fact. Taluse believes completely that he's smarter, he's stronger, and he's - well, he's better, that's all. Now, that isn't to say that he doesn't see the value in others with good attributes; strategic minds, powerful bodies, they're all useful - and it's his ability to see their usefulness that makes him continue to believe that he has the same traits in a more advanced caliber. That isn't to say he'll look at a massive warrior and challenge them to a fight, of course; rather, his is a more passive aggressive superiority in scenarios like that - continuing to flaunt his dominance without directly engaging in a way to necessarily prove it. Furthermore, this pride means that he will never surrender; anyone trying to get him to cry uncle will be faced with an impossible task. Even if he were to yell or make a fuss about something, he will always make it about the other person; that they're being an idiot, they're stupid, they're worthless. Lil shit.

History:

{Love So Alive}

In a rabbit's burrow, long after having begun her new life, a bob-tailed she-cat settled into the throes of labor with a sense of finality. The litter had been heavy in her belly for so long, and hunting had been a difficult task made easier by the generous charity of those who she passed in her travels. Her state had brought question of a tom-cat, but each time there was no answer. Yet the she-cat seemed no less happy to be entering motherhood, and when the day finally arrived to see her kittens for the first time, her heart was full of hope and love.

Hours of torment yielded only a single kitten. Although she had long expected the weight in her belly to give her several children, the she-cat found no disappointment in the single white pile of fur that she kept warm through its first night. For the soft, downy fur and the bobtail that looked identical to her own, she named the lone kitten Rabbit.

Something overtook her in the next few days; her body produced less milk, and she had no energy to go and find food. After swearing to the still-blind kitten beside her that she would hunt when she woke, the bobtail fell asleep for the last time.

{Drums of War}

The wailing of a kitten could be the most aggravating sound in the world. When he approached the den to scold the parents for allowing their children to make such a racket and for so long, he was stunned to find a single pile of fur curled up beside the corpse of its mother. For a long while he considered turning away; it was no business of his. Surely the father would return and deal with it, though he found no trace of any other scent around the burrow. No father to mourn the she-cat or raise the lump of offspring.

Warmth, much more inviting that the cooling body of its mother, drew the kitten blindly towards the stranger. Despite being nearly offended by the contact, the older tom-cat found himself with a persistent little tag-along mewling at his heels.

With no milk to offer the kitten, he threw leftovers at it. Unwanting of the foul-smelling meat, it mewed unhappily. When hunger overwhelmed the distaste, it gave in and ate. From there, a routine was established, and the older cat continued to provide for the kitten as it gradually grew. When its eyes opened, he attempted to send it away, yet his dissociated behavior when it had been younger meant it was not easily deterred.

This was the basis of their relationship. For months, the kitten-- nameless for all he knew, and certainly not about to be named by his unwilling host-- followed this cat around.

When finally he began to engage with the kitten, it was always in a negative fashion; this was company he did not want, and he made that very clear. As he grew older, the kitten began to resent this cat he followed around, bickering in reply to snide comments and often suffering outbursts of anger when provoked. Feeling challenged, he often spoke bitterly to the older figure, only to be rebuked or brushed off. A sense of inferiority was smothered by indignance and a nature of high self-opinion, and soon his entire mindset became a self-defense mechanism against the verbal abuse he suffered from this stranger. Irreversibly he became a narcissist, thinking so highly of himself that no disagreement from any number of cats could convince him otherwise.

It was this that finally gave the older cat a way to escape this unwanted little brother figure. The kitten would never amount to anything, he often said. From the beginning, the kitten was nearly out of his mind to prove the other wrong, so so wrong. Fights ended in ultimate failure on his part, though he never ceased his attempts, challenging the elder cat and suffering the consequences each time.

Their travels were laced with acrimony.

Finally, a final argument ensued, fueled by amusement on the elder's part and horrified rage on the kitten's. In its conclusion, it sent the kitten towards the tribelands, fuming with rage and absolutely burning with ambition. The longer he traveled, the less he thought of his travel partner of the whole of his life - more and more the older tom-cat faded from his memories until his mind held a single idol in mind: the tribes.
